OVERVIEW

McKim & Creed is a leading top 150 ENR-ranked firm and this newly created role as a Structural Group Leader would be based in our new Corporate Headquarters office on Edwards Mill Road. This high-level senior position would be responsible for growing and developing client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, with a focus on NC, SC, and VA.

YOUR DAY-DAY WILL INCLUDE:

  • Managing staff and providing mentoring for structural engineers in the water/wastewater, vertical, industrial, and federal work sectors.
  • Growing and developing client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, with a focus on NC, SC, and VA.
  • Responsible for growing the structural group to include staff recruiting, retention, and management.
  • Responsible for profitable operations and expanding current revenue and meeting revenue growth goals.
  • Responsibilities include business development, marketing, staff management, monitoring of quality control systems, effective utilization of resources, recruiting, selecting and development of team members.
  • Marketing and business development should focus on building client relationships that result in winning new project work from existing and new clients.
  • This individual will manage project team members and other production staff members as needed within the region.
  • Provides technical and design services for structural design to include vertical construction, concrete, steel, concrete masonry and timber buildings and structures.
  • Must be able to work as part of a project team and coordinate/schedule work with other team members including other discipline leads.
  • Responsible for various tasks on several concurrent projects and independently manage these tasks through to completion within the allocated period of time and the monetary budget assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • BS in Engineering with North Carolina PE registration or the ability to acquire a North Carolina PE quickly via reciprocity.
  • 15-20 years of experience in structural engineering, project, financial, and management.
  • Technically competent, a team player and good communications ability required.
  • Must be self-motivated and work independently to complete work assignments.
  • Have proficient knowledge of state building codes, ASCE -7 for determining loads on structures and multiple ACI, AISC and TMS design specifications and standards, for concrete, steel and concrete masonry designs respectively.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle, drug screen and criminal record.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

  • Very good presentation, technical writing, and public speaking skills with outstanding experience in major business development efforts.
  • An excellent grasp of the water/wastewater field along with leadership, team building and communication abilities.
