Position Description

Marketing Communications Specialist

Department: Health Forum
Office: Chicago
Location: Chicago, IL

The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Marketing Communication Specialist in the Health Forum and Marketing Division.

Purpose

This position is responsible for contributing to plans, and executing strategic projects within marketing and communications in support of all Health Form products and services areas including proactive and reactive communication with customers and the media, product marketing collateral, eCommerce product updates, and web content.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the production and distribution of Health Forum marketing and communication collateral
  • Organizes and coordinates the workflow of marketing and communications team, and provides support to the marketing and communication team on both specific projects and an "as needed" basis
  • Supports and staffs trade shows and educational events
  • Writes articles, stories, press releases, product brochures and other communication pieces as assigned
  • Posts press releases to VOCUS and uses VOCUS tools to track results and maintain contacts
  • Assists in the operation and management of posting new online products, product distribution, updating web pages and maintaining wholesales and distributer websites to ensure accuracy of content
  • Maintains print and electronic mailing lists for publication, conference, and product marketing and supervises print production and direct mail campaigns
  • Manages special initiatives, including video projects, as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism, English, communications, political science, marketing or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in Business- to- Business (B2B) and/or publishing organization preferred
  • Trade show knowledge
